Other people's work
VodMine uses these as separate programs and files. Each stays under its own license.
Programs
- Node.js (
tools/node.exe): MIT license, inlegal/third_party/. yt-dlp uses it for YouTube. - Python (
python/): Python Software Foundation License.
Fonts and images
- TikTok Sans (
fonts/): SIL Open Font License 1.1, from Google Fonts. Static weights were made from the variable font with fontTools. - Noto Emoji (
emoji/open/): from Google's Noto Emoji project through the emoji-datasource-google package. Noto's image resources are under the Apache License 2.0, and its fonts are under the SIL Open Font License. None of the images VodMine ships are flags, which are licensed separately. - The VodMine pickaxe: the pick from Microsoft's Fluent UI Emoji, MIT license, copyright Microsoft Corporation.
- Windows' emoji font: for emojis outside that set, VodMine draws from Segoe UI Emoji on your own PC. It isn't shipped.
Downloaded when needed
- FFmpeg: VodMine doesn't include this. The first time it's needed, VodMine downloads the essentials build published by gyan.dev from its publisher's own release into your data folder, and checks it against a fixed hash. It's under the GNU GPL version 3, its license is saved next to it as
tools/ffmpeg-LICENSE.txt, and its source is at ffmpeg.org. VodMine runs it as a separate program and isn't linked with it. - yt-dlp: Unlicense. A copy ships with VodMine, and newer ones signed by its authors are fetched automatically.
- Whisper speech models: MIT license, fetched from Hugging Face the first time they're needed.
